Venable went 3-for-5 with a single, a double, a home run Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Recommendation: Venable also scored a run and knocked a run in. He has received fairly consistent playing time, and he has provided serviceable numbers. Venable's numbers are essentially the same as 2011, and appear to be legitimate.

RF Will Venable led off Wednesday's game in St. Louis with a homer and finished 3-for-5, missing the first cycle in Padres history by a triple. It was the third time this season and the fifth time in his career that Venable fell one hit short of the cycle. The lead-off homer was also the sixth of Venable's career, the second-highest total by a Padre to Quilvio Veras' seven.

Venable had two hits Sunday in a 3-2, 13-inning win over the Angels.
