RHP Kyle McClellan rejoined the club after journeying to Pensacola, Fla., on Monday for a second opinion on his ailing right elbow. McClellan said Dr. James Andrews offered the same opinion as Dr. George Paletta, the Cardinals' medical supervisor: Surgery is not necessary. While in Andrews' care, McClellan received a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection in the inflamed area. McClellan said Andrews "had told me before I left that he expects me to come back and be able to pitch in August and September and the rest of my career without elbow problems. When you hear that from him and Dr. Paletta, that makes you feel a lot better about your decision."

McClellan (elbow) will not throw for six-to-eight weeks, but is confident that he'll return to pitch in August and September, B.J. Rains of Fox Sports Midwest reports.
Recommendation: A second opinion from Dr. James Andrews confirmed that McClellan won't need surgery, but getting back for the final two months of the season appears to be the best-case scenario for him following rehab.
