Player Notes
Yunel Escobar is in Tuesday's lineup against the Braves.

Advice: Escobar missed back-to-back games after he was hit on the hand by a pitch on Friday, but he was able to return for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader. The Nationals are surely hoping that he's feeling even better after Monday's scheduled off-day.

Yunel Escobar (hand) returned to the Nationals starting lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Phillies.

Advice: Escobar was removed from Friday's game after being hit on the hand by a pitch. While not all at the same time, the Nationals had Escobar, Denard Span and Bryce Harper return to game action on Sunday, and the lineup should look much healthier overall in the coming week.

Yunel Escobar (hand) remained out of the Nationals' lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Phillies.

Advice: Escobar was hit on the hand by a pitch on Friday. There's no word on whether he might have a shot to return for the second game Sunday. Danny Espinosa is at third base in the first contest, with Dan Uggla handling second.

Yunel Escobar (hand) is not in the Nationals starting lineup on Saturday.

Advice: Escobar was hit in the hand by a pitch during Friday's game. While X-rays came back negative, he's still sore and will require an extra day of rest. Look for the infielder to return to the lineup on Sunday.

Yunel Escobar received good news on Friday when X-rays on his hand came back negative.

Advice: Escobar was forced to leave Friday's game against the Phillies after being hit by a pitch. His hand was still very swollen after the game, but the fact that there was no structural damage is certainly encouraging. The Nationals should have an update on his status on Saturday.

Yunel Escobar was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies after being drilled on the hand/wrist by a pitch during his first at-bat.

Advice: He remained in the game to run the bases for himself, but was replaced by Dan Uggla defensively. He'll presumably head for precautionary X-rays to determine the severity of the injury, but the Nationals can ill-afford to lose another bat in their infield.

Yunel Escobar went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run as the Nationals routed the Pirates on Sunday.

Advice: Escobar put the cherry on top of the Nationals' nine-run first inning with a three-run home run, chasing starter Charlie Morton from the game. Escobar has been a ball of hot fire in June, batting .379 (25-for-66) in the month. On the season, he's hitting .331/.381/.420 with four home runs and 26 RBI.
