Yunel Escobar drove in the Nationals' only run of the night Friday against the Mets.

Advice: His eighth-inning single off Matt Harvey tied the game, but the Mets eventually won in extras. Escobar went 1-for-5 on the night and has a .312/.360/.410 batting line on the year.

Yunel Escobar (wrist) is in the Nationals' starting lineup Saturday night against the Pirates.

Advice: It looked like Escobar suffered a serious hand or wrist injury on a couple of check swings Wednesday, but he only wound up missing two games. Escobar is batting cleanup and starting third base in his return Saturday.

Yunel Escobar (wrist) was able to take some swings in the batting cages on Friday and could be available off the bench against the Pirates.

Advice: He still needs another day or two before returning to the starting lineup, but should be able to do so before the end of the weekend. Dan Uggla is starting at second base for the Nats on Friday and batting eighth against Jeff Locke.

Yunel Escobar (hand, wrist) is available to play Thursday.

Advice: Escobar left Wednesday's game after tweaking his left hand/wrist on a swing, but X-rays and a CT scan both came back negative. He's not in the lineup Thursday, but it doesn't sound like he'll need to miss much time.

Yunel Escobar (hand, wrist) is not in the Nationals' starting lineup on Thursday night.

Advice: No surprise there. Escobar left Wednesday's series finale against the Mets after appearing to suffer a serious hand or wrist injury on a pair of check swings. X-rays turned up negative, but an MRI is planned. Danny Espinosa is starting at third base and batting second on Thursday against the Pirates. Dan Uggla is at second base.

X-rays on Yunel Escobar's left hand and wrist came back negative.

Advice: It's certainly good news, but the infielder is still set to undergo an MRI and it's possible that he could have ligament damage. He'll have that exam on Thursday, at which point an update on his status should be available.

Yunel Escobar left Wednesday's game versus the Mets with an apparent left wrist injury.

Advice: Escobar hurt the wrist on a check swing, tried to stay in but then exited after still feeling pain after a foul ball. He injured his other wrist in a similar fashion last month. The Nationals should have more on Escobar later Wednesday.
