OF Jacoby Ellsbury was out of the Sox starting lineup in Friday night's victory after his elbow swelled up following an impact with one of the outfield walls at Nationals Park during the previous evening. Ellsbury informed the club that his elbow was hurting him earlier in the day and Sox manager Terry Francona opted to insert OF Mark Kotsay into centerfield in place of the injured speedster. Ellsbury eventually entered the game as a defensive replacement, and went 0-for-1 at the plate. |
