Player Notes
Angels acquired OF David Murphy and cash considerations from the Indians in exchange for SS Eric Stamets.

Advice: Murphy should take over as the regular left fielder against right-handers, although he could also see some start in the designated hitter spot. He's batting .296/.344/.437 this season and should form a solid platoon with Shane Victorino.

Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Angels are close to acquiring David Murphy from the Indians.

Advice: CBS Sports' Jon Heyman says the Indians will receive shortstop prospect Eric Stamets in return. While it won't be a headline-grabbing move, Murphy should be a nice upgrade for the Angels in left field, as he's batting .296/.344/.437 this season and has always been a pretty good hitter versus righties. He should form a platoon with Shane Victorino.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that David Murphy is drawing trade interest from the Angels among other teams.

Advice: The 33-year-old is having a terrific season for the Tribe, slashing .299/.347/.443 with five homers and 26 RBI in 82 games. He could be a nice low-cost addition and would add nice depth to the Angels outfield should the two sides be able to work out a deal.

David Murphy went 0-for-4 in Thursday's loss and is in a 2-for-27 slump since July 9.

Advice: Murphy was excellent in his part-time role in the first half, but he seems to be fading quickly now. It's bad timing, given that he figured to be available in trade talks. He'll probably lose some playing time after Nick Swisher returns.
