Player Notes
Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) will throw a simulated game on Sunday.

Advice: Sanchez was cleared for the sim game after getting through another bullpen session Thursday with no issues. The right-hander is not expected back before the end of the regular season, but he could be a valuable relief arm to have in the playoffs.

Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) threw another short bullpen session on Tuesday and felt no pain.

Advice: Sanchez will toss a longer bullpen session later this week and should then be cleared for simulated action. He's not going to return before the end of the regular season, but the right-hander could be available for the playoffs. Sanchez has been out since August 8 with a pectoral strain. He suffered a setback on August 25.

Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) threw 25 pitches off the mound Monday and felt good.

Advice: Sanchez landed on the disabled list a month ago with a strained pectoral muscle and had a setback in late August, but he's beginning to make some progress. He's slated to throw again tomorrow before the next step is decided. It might be late for him to start again for the Tigers during the regular season, but he could have a role come postseason time.

Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) is expected to begin throwing off a mound on Monday.

Advice: Sanchez has been playing long-toss for about a week with no complications and is ready to take the next step in his rehab from a pectoral strain. The right-hander probably won't make it back before the end of the regular season, but he could be an option for the Tigers' postseason roster if everything goes smoothly from here. Sanchez has been out since August 8. He suffered a setback August 25.

Anibal Sanchez (pectoral) played catch in an indoor batting cage Wednesday and felt good.

Advice: It's another nice step in the right direction, but Sanchez is not close to pitching off a mound and remains unlikely to return to action before the end of the regular season. He's been out since August 8 with a strained pectoral muscle and had to be shut down again on August 25 after suffering a significant setback.
