Volquez (elbow) threw from 60 feet for about five minutes Friday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Recommendation: Volquez reported no pain after the session, which was his first batch of throwing in about two weeks. He will progress in his throwing sessions over the next week and a half before heading out on a lengthy minor league rehab assignment.

RHP Edinson Volquez received good news Monday when an examination of his elbow revealed that inflammation is gone. Volquez, on the disabled list since June 2, was given the clearance to restart his throwing program, starting Friday with a long-toss session.
