Player Notes
Ryan Zimmerman hit two solo homers and doubled in a third run to lead the Nationals to a 4-3 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Advice: The Cardinals could have walked Zimmerman after Matt den Dekker sacrificed Anthony Rendon to second in the eighth, but they opted not to and he made them pay with the double that gave the Nationals the lead. He's up to 16 homers on the year, 11 of which have come in 35 games since he came off the DL in late July.

Ryan Zimmerman went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a three-run home run, but the Nationals were beaten by the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Zimmerman gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI double, then made it 5-3 in the seventh with a three-run home run off of Kevin Siegrist. The first baseman has been on a tear since August 23, batting .345 (10-for-29) with four home runs and 15 RBI. It's an improvement on an otherwise bland .231/.298/.428 triple-slash line with 13 home runs and 63 RBI.

Ryan Zimmerman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: Zimmerman touched up Marlins starter Tom Koehler for a solo homer to left-center in the second inning. The oft-injured first baseman has been scalding the ball of late, with a double, three homers and 11 RBI in his last six games. For the season, he's hitting a slightly-less-stellar .225/.294/.215 with 12 homers and 59 RBI over 311 at-bats.

Sat, Aug 29 Rotoworld
Ryan Zimmerman hit a grand slam in Tuesday's win against the Padres.

Advice: Zimmerman's only hit in five at-bats was a sixth-inning grand slam off of Bud Norris that boosted the Nationals' lead to 8-2. It's his first homer since hitting two on August 9. Since then, he was batting only .189 (7-for-37). Zimmerman's numbers, overall, are still lackluster but the Nationals are hoping he can pick it up in time for a September playoff push. He's hitting .222/.296/.401 with 10 home runs and 53 RBI.
