Wright, who was slated for a day off Wednesday, talked his way into the lineup and went 0-for-4 against the Brewers. Recommendation: Wright lobbied manager Jerry Manuel to play realizing the importance of the game with the team on a five-game losing streak and Gary Sheffield getting a day off. Prior to the 0-fer, Wright had hit .351 (13-for-37) with three doubles, one home run and three RBI in his 10 prior games. He is in the lineup again Thursday. |

Wright went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs in the Mets' 6-3 loss to the Brewers on Tuesday night. Advice: Wright had gone 1 for 16 (.063) with six strikeouts in the first four games of New York's losing streak, but snapping the slump wasn't enough to get the Mets a win. Wright is still the NL leader with a .345 batting average, four points ahead of second-place Hanley Ramirez. |

3B David Wright is likely to be given Wednesday's matinee off against the Brewers, even though the Mets are lacking much of their offensive punch. Wright has been heavily leaned upon, and manager Jerry Manuel said he owes the All-Star a break. Wright has started all but one game this season at third base. |
