Player Notes
J.D. Martinez hit a three-run, go-ahead home run in the ninth inning against the Twins Tuesday.

Advice: With two runners on and two outs, Martinez launched the three-run shot off Twins closer Glen Perkins to give the Tigers their first lead of the game. Martinez finished 2-for-3 with a walk. He's now got 23 home runs to go with a .313/.358/.570 line in what has been a coming out party for the 27-year-old.

J.D. Martinez slugged his 22nd home run of the season in Sunday's 6-4 victory over the Indians.

Advice: Martinez opened the game's scoring with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth and then tallied his second RBI of the day on a single in the bottom of the sixth. Martinez continues to enjoy a breakout 2014, now with a .305/.350/.557 batting line and 71 RBI in 110 games. Detroit remains atop the American League Central.

J.D. Martinez clobbered his 21st home run of the season and drove home four runs on Friday to lead the Tigers to a 7-2 win over the Indians.

Advice: Martinez broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run blast off Carlos Carrasco in the fourth inning, then added on with a two-run triple in the seventh to put the game away. The clubhouse favorite to take home American League Comeback Player of the Year honors, it's hard to envision where the Tigers would be without his .305/.347/.553 line, 21 bombs and 69 RBI this season.
