Player Notes
J.D. Martinez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday afternoon's loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Martinez's three-run shot in the eighth inning drew the Tigers to within 4-3, but the Pirates would score four times in the ninth to sap meaning from the bomb. The homer was his 21st of the season. Martinez hit a fantastic .290/.320/.677 with 11 homers and 26 RBI in the month of June alone and currently holds a season-long slash of .281/.335/.538 with 21 homers and 51 RBI. His career-high for homers in a season is 23. We're going to plant ourselves on a strong limb and say that he surpasses that soon enough.

J.D. Martinez went 3-for-4 but it wasn't enough for the Tigers in Wednesday's loss to the Pirates.

Advice: All three hits were singles, and the Tigers weren't able to bring him home even once. Martinez now has back-to-back three-hit nights. He's been red-hot since June 13, clubbing 10 home runs with 21 RBI while batting .365 (23-for-63). On the season, he has 20 home runs, 48 RBI, and a .281/.335/.538 triple-slash line.

J.D. Martinez went 3-for-6 with a two-run home run, but the Tigers couldn't overcome the Pirates in 14 innings on Tuesday.

Advice: Martinez belted a two-run home run to left-center off of Tony Watson in the bottom of the eighth inning, knotting the game up at four apiece. It's his fourth home run in his last five games and his seventh in his last seven. He has 20 round-trippers on the year with 48 RBI and a .275/.330/.535 triple-slash line.

J.D. Martinez blasted a solo home run in the eighth inning on Friday, propelling the Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the White Sox.

Advice: The game had been knotted up at 4-4 before Martinez took Zach Duke over the wall in left-center for the game-winning blast. He has now homered in three consecutive games for the second time this month, and has nine home runs in his last 12 contests. On the season, he's slashing a healthy .274/.331/.533 with 19 home runs and 46 RBI.

J.D. Martinez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 10-inning loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Martinez reduced the Tigers' deficit to 5-4 with a two-run home run in the fifth inning off of Carlos Rodon, marking his fifth home run in his last four games. He's also gone yard nine times in June, giving him 18 on the season along with 45 RBI and a .270/.329/.522 batting line.

J.D. Martinez ripped a two-run homer in Wednesday's loss to the Indians.

Advice: His longball in the seventh inning got the Tigers on the board, but that's as close as they got with Carlos Carrasco cruising most of the day. Martinez now has 17 home runs on the season to put him on pace for 38, which would far surpass the 23 he hit in last year's breakout campaign.
