Player Notes
Shane Victorino said Thursday that he wants return to switch-hitting this season.

Advice: Victorino gave up hitting from the left side at the end of the 2013 season due to thumb and hamstring injuries, but he's ready to give it another try. "Yeah, absolutely," explained Victorino. "Everything feels great. It's something I've been successful at and that I would like to go back to. The body feels good, and we'll go from there. It's a good thing to have in your back pocket, being able to switch-hit. I came into camp, I spoke to them about it and I told them I would like to try it again and they were all for it." Red Sox manager John Farrell recently said that Victorino will be the starting right fielder this season as long as he's healthy.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said Friday that, as long as he's healthy, Shane Victorino is "our right fielder."

Advice: Farrell added that Victorino, who battled back and hamstring issues in 2014 (eventually needing back surgery in August), is a "full go" right now. The general feeling has been that Mookie Betts was the favorite to start over Victorino in right, so this news throws some cold water onto his fantasy prospects. However, with the injury-prone Victorino and Hanley Ramirez manning the corner outfield spots and the inexperienced Rusney Castillo in center, there's still a good chance Betts sees ample playing time. If healthy, Victorino should have some fantasy value left in the tank, but that's a big "if."

Shane Victorino (back) expects to be 100 percent for the beginning of the 2015 regular season.

Advice: Victorino was bothered by multiple injuries in 2014, eventually needing season-ending back surgery in August. But he was an early-arriver to Red Sox camp this year in Florida and should have no restrictions when Grapefruit League play gets underway. The 34-year-old is somewhat buried on Boston's crowded outfield depth chart, so it's difficult to qualify his potential fantasy value at the moment.
