Player Notes
Jose Reyes is batting second and playing shortstop in his Rockies debut on Wednesday.

Advice: Manager Walt Weiss has chosen to keep Charlie Blackmon in the leadoff spot and move D.J. LeMahieu down to the No. 5 hole. Reyes was acquired from the Blue Jays earlier this week in a blockbuster deal that sent Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto.

Rockies acquired SS Jose Reyes and RHPs Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco from the Blue Jays for SS Troy Tulowitzki and RHP LaTroy Hawkins.

Advice: The deal is now official. Reyes would appear to be an odd fit for the Rockies, who have prospect Trevor Story in Triple-A, so the expectation is that he could be eventually flipped to another team. The Rockies would likely have to eat some salary in order to do it, as Reyes has showed diminished skills at the plate and in the field. The 32-year-old is owed $22 million in 2016 and 2017 and his contract includes a $22 million club option or a $4 million buyout for 2018. This is the second time he's been traded since signing his six year, $106 million contract with the Marlins in December of 2011.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mets are not interested in reacquiring Jose Reyes.

Advice: Reyes is set to be traded to the Rockies (along with Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco), but many expect that he will eventually be flipped elsewhere. The 32-year-old is owed $22 million per season through 2017, with a $22 million option or a $4 million buyout for 2018, which would likely be too expensive for the Mets unless the Rockies were to absorb a big chunk of his remaining salary. Reyes has also shown a decline in skills, both at the plate and in the field. He's batting .285 with four home runs and a .708 OPS over 69 games this season.
