RHP Fernando Rodney is getting positive dividends from his every-other-day throwing program. Rodney came in for the seventh inning following a 2-hour, 20-minute rain delay and struck out four batters in the two innings he worked. He set down six straight after allowing a leadoff single. Rodney has been going more to his fastball, which he is beginning to command better since the initiation of his throwing program, and relying less on his trademark changeup. Rodney has struck out eight of the last 13 batters he has faced. His fastball is in the 95-97 mph range.

Rodney had his hat size drop from 7 3-4 to 7 3-8 after getting a haircut from teammate Freddy Dolsi. It was Rodney's first haircut since Sept. 2005.
Advice: Rodney was impressive on the mound with the new 'do, as he pitched 1 1-3 hitless innings and struck out three on Saturday, trimming his ERA to 6.55.
