Player Notes
Fernando Rodney blew the save, letting the Yankees score once in the ninth inning as the Mariners went on to lose in 11 innings on Tuesday.

Advice: Rodney issued a leadoff walk, but then got two quick outs and it seemed like he would find his way out of trouble. The Yankees cobbled together a single followed by a Stephen Drew double to tie the game. Somehow, it's only Rodney's third blown save. He's pitched very poorly this year, currently holding a 6.85 ERA with a 20/12 K/BB ratio in 22 1/3 innings. The Mariners have to be running thin on patience with Rodney. If a change is made, Carson Smith would likely move into the closer's role. Fantasy owners in need of saves may want to stash him just in case.

Fernando Rodney recorded his 14th save despite giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the Indians.

Advice: Rodney surrendered an RBI triple to Ryan Raburn before getting Michael Brantley to fly out to end the game. Just nine of his 21 pitches were strikes. Lloyd McClendon has been stubbornly patient with him, but this can't be allowed to go on for much longer. Rodney has allowed runs in seven of 10 appearances this month.

Fernando Rodney allowed three runs to take a blown save against the Rays on Tuesday, earning the win instead.

Advice: It actually could have been worse for Rodney, as he allowed two runs before even recording an out. After Evan Longoria's two-run double, Rodney pulled it together, but he wasn't able to hold onto the lead. Rodney now owns an unsightly 6.98 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, and the Mariners may be forced to look elsewhere for saves shortly.

Fernando Rodney worked a stress-free ninth inning to pick up his 13th save in Monday's 4-1 victory over the Rays.

Advice: Rodney got two ground outs before Joey Butler reached base on a single to shallow right field, but he was able to get Evan Longoria to fly out to end the game. The veteran closer has been anything but a sure thing taking the mound in the ninth inning, but he's now 13-for-14 in save chances with a 5.89 ERA and an 18/8 K/BB ratio in 18 1/3 innings.
