RF Michael Cuddyer's home run in Wednesday's win over the Royals was the outfielder's 12th of the season, putting him just four shy of his 2007 total and halfway to his career-high 24 mashed in 2006.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire scrapped plans to start Cuddyer at second base on Sunday in fear of retaliation after the Cardinals were unhappy with a slide Cuddyer made at the plate in Saturday's game, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Gardenhire was afraid the Cardinals would take Cuddyer out on slides into second base.
Recommendation: Cuddyer slid into Yadier Molina's legs on Sunday to break up a double play, which upset the Cardinals but the Twins argued was a clean play. It's too bad Cuddyer didn't get a start in the infield as it may have given him increased fantasy value and perhaps solved some lineup issues for the Twins.
