Player Notes
Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) expects to sit out Friday's game but does not expect to need a trip to the disabled list.

Advice: Cuddyer tweaked his left hamstring after grounding out to shortstop in the seventh inning Thursday. The Rockies are calling him day-to-day, and is sounds like he should be ready to play sometime over the weekend.

Michael Cuddyer left Thursday's game against the Padres with a left hamstring cramp.

Advice: He came up gimpy after grounding out to shortstop in the seventh inning. It's good that the Rockies are only calling it a cramp, and they're listing Cuddyer as day-to-day for now. Still, he figures to miss at least a game or two.

One night after suffering an elbow contusion, Michael Cuddyer went 1-for-4 with a steal and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-2 win against the Padres.

Advice: With Justin Morneau getting the night off, Cuddyer was free to man first base, a slice of the defensive spectrum that his stomach can handle at this point. He was fortunate to escape Monday's warning track fiasco after slamming into the fence with all his weight falling backwards after getting crossed up on Alexi Amarista's triple. In the batter's box, on the other hand, Cuddyer still looks very much at home, slashing .340/.400/.585 in the early going.

Michael Cuddyer is back in the Rockies' lineup Tuesday.

Advice: Cuddyer had to leave Monday's game with a right elbow contusion after slamming into the right field wall. He's surely still sore but is feeling well enough to give it a go. Cuddyer is playing first base, with Justin Morneau getting a night off.

Michael Cuddyer has been diagnosed with a right elbow contusion and is day-to-day.

Advice: The veteran outfielder slammed into the right field wall on Monday when he got crossed up on Alexi Amarista's RBI triple. The play was more a commentary that Cuddyer shouldn't be playing the outfield any more than a fluke, but fellow former Twin Justin Morneau is in possession of first base for the next two years. Cuddyer is going to wake up very sore tomorrow, and we'd expect him to get a day or two off, but he's fortunate to escape without major injury.

Michael Cuddyer left Monday's game against the Padres in the fifth inning after he slammed into the right field wall chasing Alexi Amarista's RBI triple.

Advice: Amarista's blast just missed clearing the wall, and it crossed up the veteran Cuddyer, who was backed up on his heals reaching when the entirety of his weight smashed back-first into the wall. Trainers were looking at his right elbow. We don't yet have an update on his status. Brandon Barnes entered the game to replace the 2013 NL batting title winner.

Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday's loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Cuddyer was one bright spot in an otherwise forgettable game for the Rockies. The right fielder hit his third homer of the season to give him eight RBI, and he's now hitting a robust .432 through nine games. After winning his first batting title a year ago, the 35-year-old obviously has designs on defending his crown in 2014.
