Seattle Mariners infielder Josh Rojas recognized a mistake from New York Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt during Tuesday's game and took advantage. "You can see in the video he was clearly tipping [his pitches]," Rojas, who motioned to teammate Dylan Moore before a two-run homer in the third inning of his team's 6-3 win, said, per Ronald Blum of the Associated Press. "Everybody's always trying to look for something," Rojas said Wednesday.
Clarke Schmidt believes he's living proof. Schmidt feels as if he, Nestor Cortes and Luis Gil are proof of the Yankees' pitching development. Proof of a clear pathway for Yankees prospects to reach the team's MLB rotation. Proof that chemistry can truly be beneficial. Schmidt, Cortes and Gil — who all came up through the Yankees' minor league system — are scheduled to start the Yankees' final
Yankees' Clarke Schmidt threw Twins' slugger Carlos Correa a sinker on a 1-0 count Thursday night, and Trent Grisham completed the play by getting under the ball in shallow center field. Marcus Stroman was first in line out of the dugout to greet Schmidt on his way back, while Carlos Rodon had his hand up for a high five for Schmidt, as did the rest of the Yankees.
