Mark Buehrle grinds his way through Letterman's Top 10

From the home office in Country Club Hills, Illinois, here's the clip of Mark Buehrle(notes) reading his personalized top 10 list on David Letterman's Late Show. It's pretty much the highest honor this country can issue for a civilian accomplishment these days.

I laughed out loud at Nos. 4 and 8, but overall, a pretty weak effort. Then again, I guess we should expect good baseball jokes from late night comedy writers as often as we expect major league pitchers to deliver them cleanly. (Still, not one Ozzie or A.J. joke? I know neither of them have ever played for the Yankees, but would it have killed them to throw us a bone?)

    Yes because Ozzie and AJ jokes have never been done before.... yawn.

    Maybe so @plaguedog, but the presence of one would have at least indicated that Letterman or his people had any idea who Mark Buehrle actually is.

    #9 was good. But #7 had my laughing. The rest were pretty meh.

    And that list was about 60% funny, the rest of it was typical try as you might humor.
    Nonetheless it was a pretty funny list and Mark was a good sport about it.

    Good point Duk, and what a shame that really is because all Mark Buehrle does year after year is go out and pitch over 200 innings and wins around 15 or so games since 2001. Every team in baseball dreams about a lefty like this guy and I for one am glad he is on the Sox. Maybe the most underrated pitcher in baseball and I am happy for him because the guy is also a class act.

    Can't deny that a lot of comedy is about delivery and Buehrle didn't look the most comfortable. I'm just sayin...

    Plaguedog is right. Buehrle is classy. He definitely doesn't belong on the Sox.
