Expect some roster moves by the Cubs Wednesday. Aaron Miles(notes) has been bothered by a sore shoulder since Spring Training, and may be placed on the DL. That would open one spot. The Cubs have been trying to get another bat in the lineup and Jake Fox, who is leading the Pacific Coast League in average, home runs and RBIs, was spotted at Wrigley Field. Also, lefty Jason Waddell was seen at the ballpark as was infielder Andres Blanco(notes).
Confirmation here from the Trib's Paul Sullivan. Fox should be added in NL-only leagues for sure. He's a nice mixed flier, too, unless you're in a smallish league. Fox has already received the full Skinny tongue bath if you need additional details.
Keep in mind that age relative to level is a critical consideration when looking at minor leaguers, and Fox is already 26. He ain't no Wieters. Still, there's no bad way to hit .423.
Update, 5:30 PM: So they bring him up, then sit him. When Piniella had a chance to pinch-hit Fox against lefty Zach Duke, he instead called upon left-handed hitting Micah Hoffpauir(notes)...who immediately popped out.
Fox finally got an opportunity with two-outs in the eighth and he lined a run-scoring double to right-center. Nice at-bat, great result. More, please.
And Carlos shouldn't have been in the game in the seventh. He was cooked. And now he's looking at a suspension. Tantrum highlights here.
