If you didn't know Mark Teixeira were a baseball player, you could easily be convinced he works a mundane office job. For as much money as he's made and as many homers as he's hit, Teixeira's never been known as a ballplayer with a big personality.
Turns out Teixeira has kept a pretty interesting sense of humor under wraps for all these years. This season, Teixeira started a talk show called "Foul Territory." Only it's not a real talk show, it's one of those comedy shows disguised as a talk show, like Zach Galifianakis' "Between Two Ferns," where the host acts really awkward.
Teixeira is no Zach Galifianakis, but "Foul Territory" is better than I figured it would be when I first hit play. The latest episode, where Teixeira gets interview tips from Jack Curry of YES Network, is below. The previous one where Teixeira interviews teammate Brian McCann might be the best of the three released thus far.
There is one more possibility here: What if Teixeira isn't trying to be funny and he is just really, really awkward?
