With their 50th anniversary season behind them, the Buffalo Sabres are unveiling a new jersey. But it's also an old one. The Sabres on Tuesday announced that they are bringing back the original royal blue jerseys that the team wore from the expansion 1970 season until 1996, when the team went through a series of sometimes questionable changes.
For any attempt the Sabres use to improve their team in the offseason, Rasmus Ristolainen will likely be the key to making this happen. While the value of Ristolainen is controversial in the hockey world, there will still be interest from several teams for his services. However, I would not expect a 1 for 1 swap where Buffalo instantly acquires a proven top six forward, first round pick, or top prospect.
Matt Moulson accomplished his goal to play at least 1,000 professional hockey games and now he’ll turn his attention to winning his first championship. Moulson, who has not played a game in the NHL since he left the Buffalo Sabres in December 2017, signed a one-year AHL contract Friday with the Hershey Bears. Moulson, 36, was selected an AHL all-star this past season and totaled 22 goals with 41 points in 62 games with the Bears.
