Shutdown Corner - NFL

A horrifically terrifying woman admitted yesterday that she stabbed and killed her husband because he turned up the volume on a Dallas Cowboys game.

The woman, ironically-named Kimberly Shanks, said her husband turned up the volume "knowing it would keep her awake." She then went into the kitchen, got a knife, and "tried to stick the knife in his heart." She then proceeded to run into a neighbor's yard, pick up a big rock, and whack him on the back of the head with it. Then she stabbed him some more.

The game in question was the Week 15 Sunday night contest against the Giants. It was an important game for the Cowboys, and came in the midst of all the Terrell Owens(notes)/Jason Witten/Tony Romo(notes) drama. The game's outcome was in question deep into the fourth  quarter, until Tashard Choice(notes) scored the touchdown that put the game away. The final score was 20-8.

Obviously, this is a couple that had problems that go way deeper than the volume at which one must listen to Al Michaels and John Madden. People don't kill people because the volume's too high, people kill people because people have major, major problems. This woman also told police that her husband had mentally abused her, and refused to give her a divorce. My guess is that those were bigger factors than the volume of this game.

Gracias, Mister Irrelevant.
