Shutdown Corner - NFL

Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has his arm in a cast today. How did he injure the arm, you might wonder? Lifting weights? A tough scrimmage? Car accident, maybe?

None of the above. He slipped on a McDonalds bag and put his arm through a TV entertainment center. Of course he did.

That guy pictured to your right will haunt Marshall's dreams for the rest of his life. From the NFL Network's Adam Schefter:

"I want to thank everybody for their concerns and let everyone know that I'm okay," Marshall wrote in a text message Sunday morning. "It's funny because I pride myself on YAC (yards after catch) and being one of the toughest players to take down once I have the ball in my hands.

"So for the next couple of days I'm going to take the time to build my confidence back up after allowing that McDonalds bag to take me down and send me through the entertainment center."
Pro Football Talk doesn't believe Marshall's story, but I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. It's just too wacky and detailed for someone to have made that up.

If he's trying to hide something, surely he'd make up some bland, unalarming story, like Vlad Radmanovic's "I slipped on some ice." Why make up something that makes him seem like an uncoordinated slob?

I think the "Hamburgler" secretly placed the bag in the middle of the floor like that.

Yeah, after he injured his arm, he called Brian Griese and asked him for advice on what story he should tell the press. Brian Griese told him not to use the, "I tripped over my dog" story because Brian had already used it.

What a looser. Not because he had an accident...but because he felt the need to make up some elaborate lie. What ever happened to "honesty is the best policy"?
