Just when you were ready to give Allen Iverson(notes) the benefit of the doubt and say, OK, maybe the whole situation with the Detroit Pistons wasn't his fault, he goes and pulls out a little hissy fit in Memphis.
Iverson has returned to action with the Memphis Grizzlies after recovering from a partial left hamstring tear and did pretty well:11 points in 18 minutes against the Sacramento Kings.
Iverson was disappointed with the number of minutes played, according to FanHouse. "I had no problems (with the hamstring)," Iverson said afterward. "I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That's the only thing I got a problem with."
Some reporters before the game even suggested to Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins that Iverson should be starting, which he seemed to find ridiculous: "He hasn't even been with the team until just a couple of days ago," Hollins said. "He's going to come off the bench. He hasn't played all preseason, hasn't played the three regular-season games (leading up to Sacramento). He only practiced three days in training camp before he got hurt so there's no way I would trot him out there in a starting role."
It looks like it's going to be a long season fro Iverson and the Grizzlies.

i don't see conley ever improving to an acceptable level for a starter in the nba.
while i can understand hollins' decision to bring allen along slowly in his 1st game, if his minutes isn't in the mid 30's by game 3, i would have a problem.
iverson is clearly the best player on the team. if the grizz are committed to win (it seems they aren't rebuilding since they acquired randolph and iverson), then start iverson now.

like a.i. said, a player of his resume shouldn't be coming off the bench.
shaq obviously isn't coming off the bench in cleveland behind ilgauskas. rip is starting ahead of ben gordon. grant hill is also a starter. all of them are clearly fading and not necessarily better than the options from the bench.
on the other hand, iverson's competition is conley, who is a huge bust. fire hollins if he has such a man crush on conley. i wouldn't be surprised if he does cuz kyle lowry (who is better than conley) was driven out of memphis after he took over.

1.They get Milicic and Kwame Brown, thats like putting Michael Jackson and Marilyn Manson inside an orphanage.
2.They let go of Pau Gasol for nobody.. see above..
3.They get Iverson, a hall of famer point guard, but had him sitting on the bench in a disrespectful manner going off the bench for a guy named Conley..
4.They think Rudy Gay is not worth the contract extension he deserves...
5.They still have Lionel Hollins as coach...

iverson averaged 7.5 assists in his last full season with denver. how is he not a point guard? the only reason karl started anthony carter was he didn't wanna start j.r. smith. smith didn't even start after iverson left. dahntay jones did.
lebron never made his teammates better either. kobe never made his teammates better. but david stern gave pau gasol to the lakers for free and cavs have the 2nd highest payroll in the league cuz lebron always blame his teammates for his team's shortcomings.
it doesn't matter what iverson's percentage is. the fact is that he draws a lot of fouls. the ability to draw fouls separate superstars like d-wade, iverson, kobe, lebron, etc from ballhogs like rudy gay, mayo, joe johnson, etc.

All Iverson's saying is he wants to play, how anyone can be so stupid as to interpret this as "throwing fits" is plain silly

rudy gay are mayo are bigger ballhogs than iverson ever was.
gay doesn't draw any contacts or fouls and he averages 1.7 assists per game.
he is a low effiency player.
iverson constantly gets on the free throw line
