Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Yao Ming (and a not-so-crazy Ron Artest) powered Houston's strong finish last night as the Rockets beat the Mavericks, spoiling the debut of new Dallas coach Rick Carlisle. As KD mentioned, Yao's line was particularly sick: 30 points (on 11-15 FG and 8-8 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and an 8-track and a spare tire in his backseat. Hello!

A pillow case of sugar-laden treats to the fine folks at Tirico Suave.

If Houston stays healthy the NBA and David Stern's "chosen few big market teams" better look out. Let's see how the refs manulipate the games between the Rockets and the "chosen few big market teams". Knowing Stern, the Rockets will get the wrong end of the calls. Remember, you read it here, today.

This posting is to put David Stern and his lying, cheating refs on notice that we NBA fans will be watching the officiating all year. Call the games correctly and fairly - or you lying, cheating, fatherless thieves will be called out.

Ugh. I don't get Ball Don't Lie. Yahoo Sports went downhill when it started incorporating this blog. Just one man's opinion, but I hear it's shared by many.

enough with the hating on Yao, the man dropped 30pts and 11reb on the Mavs last night, I would rather Yao misses one dunk then lose to the Mavs.

Hitman, David Stern has no father? Where did you get that intel from?
That certainly would explain a lot...

I dont feel the need to laugh at this. I cant imagine being that tall and somehow being as coordinate as he is. props to him for jumping at all. Usually he doesn't really need to.

hitman, you are right on. I saw bad officiating in the finals the year. How about kobe's "steal" at the end of one of the games which was blatantly a reaching foul. Tim Donaghy wasn't the only cheating ref.

So the man goes up for a 2 handed dunk, is fouled by a player grabbing his arm, and now he`s being made fun of because he wasn`t able to finish the and-1? Doesnt make sense but ok.

give credit to Yao, being that tall and has all the talent and savvy for this game. ignore all the haters, you are the best center in the league.

Bynum average 7 pts and 6 rebounds a game and gets about the same money as Yao. Yao gets 30 and 13 and gets laugh at because he miss a dunk gotten foul or not. Bynum gets one one only one double doulbel then all the charles b. reggie m saying that he is the next great center. Why is that? Yao average 22 and 11 and gets the same paid as bynum and gets put down since he got into the league every chance the media could. Here is the question ? If Yao was black . would he get the same put down or support from charles B and the rest of the inner nba crowd? If yao came in like Greg Oden, he will be laugh at and put down till no end instead all the ex NBA inner crowd always give Oden support even though he was the NO.1 pick and never play a full game for over a year? Reverse discrimination?

Yao is the best center in the league. He has been the last 3 years. All this talk about the best center is pointless, have you seen the touch he has w/ a basketball. He might not dunk it on everybody, he might get dunked on from time to time and even get crossed over i.e. Starbury... But he DOMINATES his opponent on a nightly basis, and the refs are calling the game against him. Look it up he dominates Howard, Camby, Kamen, Shaq, Bosh, and Duncan.

    NOTE THIS EVERYONE!
I always make predictions and I'm always 97% accurate with my assumptions. I am an NBA prophet. Last year I predicted that Boston will win the championship and that they're going to face the Lakers. I also predicted that stupid Stephen (the stupid loud-mouth commentator we see during draft lottery picks) will eat his words (when he called Isiah the the greatest thing to ever happen to new york).
Houston is a powerhouse. Yao and Artest will be the main guys on offense and defense. Scola will slowly find his niche and will become the 2nd or 3rd scoring option. I love Mc Grady but if he continues with his consistency woes then he will be relegated to the bench more often and a possible trade with Ben Gordon or a talented scoring-guard might occur.
As long as Chris, Tyson, and Peja plays well, N.O. has a chance. West is still solid with his performances.
Phoenix -though slower than before- is still a contender. Dallas is not that great anymore but will still make the playoffs.
My top teams in the west are: Houston (hope Yao doesn't get injured), New Orleans, LA Lakers, San Antonio (can't count them out), Utah (gonna drop), Phoenix, Dallas, Golden State.
My top eastern teams are: Detroit, Cleveland, Boston, Toronto, Orlando, New York (yes they're going to make it this year), New Jersey ( Yi will make the bucks pay for not believing in him), and Atlanta.
Milwaukee will continue to suck because their team is built around Redd when it should be built around Bogut. Give Andrew the ball and they're gonna be a top team.
And now take note so that you can make fun of me (if my predictions are wrong) next year when NBA season is done.
Orlando or Boston will win the East while Houston or the Lakers will take the West.
Expect a Houston vs Orlando showdown!
    Adios...........

Except the reason he can't jump is BECAUSE he's so freaking tall. And if he was taller he'd probably be bigger, and then he might be like UNC Asheville's 7'8" player who recently had to have part of his foot amputated. So I think Yao now is just fine.
