Jarrod Washburn(notes) didn't think his chances of returning to the team that traded him midway through last season were very good last week. But it appears the Seattle Mariners are still interested in the hurler, according to FOXSports.

He went 9-9 with a 3.74 ERA for the M's and the Detroit Tigers last season and remains on the free-agent market. But his ERA was more than a full point lower at 2.64 for the Mariners last season in the 20 games he started for them. The Mariners spent a lot of dough to get better in the offseason but its rotation is still slightly unclear behind aces Felix Hernandez(notes) and Cliff Lee(notes), especially with Erik Bedard(notes) not yet recovered from shoulder surgery.

Washburn could also end up with the Minnesota Twins, particularly if the Twins decide to try starter Francisco Liriano(notes) as injured closer Joe Nathan's(notes) replacement.
