Advice: The Mariners were leaving open the possibility that Elias could make an appearance in relief this week, but obviously that's not going to happen. The good news is that it doesn't appear he'll need surgery and he should have a relatively normal offseason. Elias had a solid rookie year after surprisingly cracking the rotation out of spring training, posting a 3.85 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over 29 starts.

Advice: The Mariners are confident that Elias' elbow injury is minor, but we'll know for sure on Monday. He won't start again and it seems unlikely that he'll pitch in relief, but the M's aren't closing the door on the possibility.

Advice: He underwent a precautionary MRI, but Elias' exam with doctors went well and there wasn't a high level of concern. The left-hander won't pitch again this season, but it's sounding like he'll have a relatively normal offseason.

Advice: Elias was forced to leave Tuesday's start against the Angels with what the Mariners are now calling "flexor bundle tightness" in his throwing elbow. There should be more clarity on his status soon, but Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon acknowledged Wednesday that he's likely done for the year. No word yet on who will replace him in the rotation Sunday against the Astros, but Taijuan Walker is a strong possibility.

Advice: Well, that's no good. Elias allowed two runs on five hits and a walk and had surrendered a leadoff single in the fourth inning before departing. More info on his long-term outlook probably won't be available until Wednesday, but the rookie's season is almost surely over.

Advice: Elias allowed a leadoff single to Josh Hamilton in the bottom of the fourth before the Mariners' trainer visited him on the mound and eventually walked off with him. It's not clear at this point what he's dealing with, but an update should be available shortly.
