Advice: He will start the series finale versus the Reds. Gomes will be catching a full nine innings for the first time on his rehab assignment on Friday, and the Indians will be careful with him initially upon his return, not playing him in back-to-back games. Brett Hayes had been filling in as the club's backup catch and will be sent down on Sunday.

Advice: Gomes will catch his first full game on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Friday. The likelihood is that he'll then join the Indians Saturday before being activated and playing on Sunday. Gomes is not expected to play in back-to-back games right away, as the Indians want to ease him back into things after he missed over a month with a right MCL sprain.

Advice: That's after he catches five frames on Monday. Obviously the Indians will want him to go nine innings before considering activating him, but manager Terry Francona said it won't be necessary for Gomes to catch back-to-back games. He's expected back pretty soon. "We understand that especially being a catcher, he's not going to be built up to where you can start playing him back-to-back," Francona said. "As long as he's healthy, we can activate him. Having him catch three times a week is better than not. We have to make sure he's completely healthy, so he can play the game."

Advice: Gomes is recovering from a right MCL sprain. He's been rehabbing well and assuming there are no hiccups in the minors, he could be activated next week.

Advice: He'll either serve as the designated hitter or catcher on Friday and then be used at the other position Saturday. Gomes has recovered ahead of schedule from a right MCL sprain and it would seem likely that he'll be activated at some point next week if all goes well.

Advice: Gomes has recovered ahead of schedule from a right MCL sprain. It's not clear at this point how many rehab games he might need, but it sounds like it's possible he could be activated from the disabled list before the end of the month. The Tribe initially thought he could be out until as late as mid-June.Rotoworld
Advice: It's another encouraging step for Gomes, who suffered a moderate right MCL sprain on April 11. He's making progress, but it's unclear when he'll go out on a minor league rehab assignment.Rotoworld
