Player Notes
Cubs placed 3B Mike Olt on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a hairline fracture in his right wrist.

Advice: Olt initially hurt the wrist last Saturday, but he was allowed to take a few at-bats after that because initial tests didn't reveal the hairline fracture. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined, but with Kris Bryant up now, Olt doesn't have a path to playing time.

According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago, Mike Olt (wrist) will be placed on the disabled list to create room on the big league roster for Kris Bryant.

Advice: It was only a matter of time before Bryant staked his claim to the hot corner in Chicago, and would've happened even if Olt hadn't suffered the wrist injury. He can safely be cut in NL-only formats.

Mike Olt (wrist) is out of the Cubs' starting lineup again on Wednesday against the Reds.

Advice: Olt was able to enter Tuesday's game as a late sub, but he is still apparently battling some lingering discomfort in his right wrist. Jonathan Herrera is starting at third base and batting ninth.

Mike Olt (wrist) appeared as a pinch-hitter in Tuesday's loss to the Reds.

Advice: Olt flew out as a pinch-hitter in the eighth, stayed in the game for defense and then struck out to end the game in the ninth. He hadn't played since Saturday after being hit in the wrist by a pitch, but he'll be fine.

Mike Olt (wrist) is out of the Cubs' starting lineup again on Tuesday against the Reds.

Advice: Jonathan Herrera is playing third base and batting ninth. Olt was able to go through a pregame workout Tuesday at Wrigley Field but he still has some discomfort in his right wrist, which was struck by a pitch on Saturday night in Colorado.

Mike Olt (wrist) was scratched from Monday's lineup.

Advice: It sounds like Olt's right wrist was still a bit sore in pre-game workouts, so the Cubs will give him another day. Jonathan Herrera has taken his spot at third base.

Mike Olt (wrist) is back in the Cubs' lineup Monday.

Advice: Olt didn't start Sunday after being hit by a pitch in the wrist Saturday, although he was able to pinch-hit. He has just two hits in his first 13 at-bats this season, although one of them was a homer.

Mike Olt (wrist) is not in Sunday's lineup.

Advice: X-rays on Olt's right wrist came back negative after he was hit by a pitch, but he's likely still sore. He might not have been in the lineup against a righty, anyway. Jonathan Herrera is handling third base.

X-rays taken Saturday on Mike Olt's right wrist showed no fracture of any kind.

Advice: Olt has some swelling in the wrist and will probably sit out of Sunday's series finale in Colorado, but he should be fine by early next week. Arismendy Alcantara took over at third base on Saturday night and could draw the start there on Sunday afternoon. Kris Bryant is due to arrive in the majors on April 17.

Mike Olt was pulled from Saturday's game after taking a pitch off his right wrist.

Advice: Olt looked to be in a good deal of pain and will likely be sent for X-rays. He had homered earlier in the game. Arismendy Alcantara was shifted from second base to third base and Jonathan Herrera entered to handle the keystone. Kris Bryant could take over third base for good next Friday.
