Player Notes
Chris Sale (elbow) said Tuesday that he "absolutely" expects to be activated from the disabled list on May 3 when first eligible.

Advice: "I have no reason to believe not," the left-hander added. While it's good that Sale is feeling confident the left flexor muscle strain will only cost him a couple weeks, we'll just have to see how he recovers. The White Sox have provided no timetable for his return.

White Sox placed LHP Chris Sale on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 18, with a left flexor muscle strain.

Advice: This will be Sale's first ever trip to the disabled list. The good news is that he's not dealing with any ligament damage. The White Sox are hoping he won't have to miss more than 15 days, but it remains to be seen.

The White Sox will place Chris Sale on the disabled list with a flexor muscle strain.

Advice: The White Sox announced earlier Monday that Sale wouldn't make his next scheduled start due to "general soreness," but now we have more details. The good news is that the left-hander has no ligament damage in his elbow, but a flexor strain is still something that could cause a lengthy absence. Charlie Leesman will replace Sale in Chicago's rotation.

Chris Sale will likely be scratched from Tuesday's start against the Tigers.

Advice: White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Sale is dealing with general soreness, comparing it to what he has dealt with in each of the last two seasons. It sounds like he might only need to be pushed back a couple of days, but this situation is obviously worth monitoring. Andre Rienzo is a candidate to fill in Tuesday.

Chris Sale wasn't involved in the decision after allowing one run in seven innings and striking out 10 against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Sale was dominant for the most part, with the Red Sox crushing two of his very few mistakes. Fortunately, the first didn't hurt him, as Adam Eaton robbed David Ortiz of a homer in the first. The other did, though, as Xander Bogaerts was able to hit one out to left in the sixth. It was the first homer allowed by Sale in four starts this season.
