Player Notes
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers have had discussions about Lorenzo Cain.

Advice: It's not a surprise, as the Rangers are looking for a right-handed hitting center fielder and the Royals are reportedly fielding offers for Cain. The Rangers also have interest in bringing back Ian Desmond and Carlos Gomez. Cain has drawn interest from the Cardinals and Dodgers.

Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers have expressed interest in Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain.

Advice: Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has already tied the Cardinals to Cain, who is due to become a free agent next winter and could very well be traded this offseason if the return is right. Cain batted just .287/.339/.408 in 2016, but he had an .838 OPS with 16 homers and 28 steals in 2015 and the 30-year-old plays a terrific center field. Los Angeles has also been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Royals closer Wade Davis.

Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch hears the Cardinals "have kept tabs on possible trade options" such as Lorenzo Cain of the Royals.

Advice: Cain is due to become a free agent after the 2017 season and the Royals probably aren't going to be able to afford to sign him to a long-term extension, so a trade this winter does seem possible. Goold also hears the Cardinals are eyeing Adam Eaton of the White Sox. On the free agent side, St. Louis has been connected strongly to Dexter Fowler.
