Player Notes
Ian Desmond had three singles and four RBI against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Desmond is getting about as many chances to drive in runs as anyone in the majors, and he's taking advantage, with 77 RBI through 122 games. His career high is 80, established last year. Overall, he's not hitting as well this year as he did either of the last two years -- his average currently stands at .251 after seasons of .292 and .280 -- but he's been an awfully valuable fantasy shortstop, particularly since he's the one that's managed to stay healthy.

Ian Desmond hit his 20th home run of the season in the Nationals' 7-1 win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Advice: Desmond chased Rafael Montero from the game when he lifted a two-run home run out to left field. Desmond joins the 20-homer club for the third consecutive season. Overall, though, his numbers this season are a step behind those of the past two seasons. He has a .244/.298/.428 line with 72 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Ian Desmond and Gio Gonzalez both cleared revocable waivers.

Advice: It's a little surprising that both players passed through unclaimed, but it's not like the contending Nationals are interested in dealing either of them. For what it's worth, both Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper were claimed before being pulled back by Washington. It's standard practice for teams to put most of their players on revocable waivers in August, so this ultimately isn't a big deal.

Ian Desmond belted his 19th home run of the season on Sunday, but it would account for the Nationals only scoring in a losing effort against the Braves.

Advice: His solo blast in the fourth inning was the only damage against opposing starter Alex Wood. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .244/.296/.422 with 19 homers, 70 RBI and 13 stolen bases on the year.
