Player Notes
Ian Desmond is out of Thursday's lineup against the Braves.

Advice: He's getting a day off to work on his swing mechanics. Danny Espinosa will start at shortstop while Dan Uggla plays second base.

Ian Desmond walked and hit a two-run home run in four trips to the plate, but the Nationals couldn't overcome the Phillies in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.

Advice: Desmond clubbed a two-run home run off of Severino Gonzalez in the fourth inning, helping chip into the four-run deficit the Nationals had entering the frame. It's his seventh round-tripper of the year and his 22nd and 23rd RBI's. He carries a mediocre .225/.269/.356 triple-slash line.
