Player Notes
Ian Desmond's sixth-inning two-run home run was all of the offense the Nationals needed to clinch the NL East division in a win against the Braves on Tuesday.

Advice: Desmond finished 2-for-4 with a double as well, but it was his two-run shot in the sixth inning off of Aaron Harang that broke a scoreless tie and helped send the Nationals to their second division title in three seasons. Desmond had been in a bit of an offensive funk, as he hadn't homered since August 29, but he's still sitting on 23 with 88 RBI, 22 stolen bases, and a .252/.308/.423 slash line.

Ian Desmond went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the Nationals' 10-3 rout of the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Desmond walked and scored in the second inning, reached on an infield single, stole a base, and scored a run in the fourth inning, smacked a two-run single and stole another base in the fifth inning, and then capped off his night with an RBI double in the eighth. He's hitting just .250/.307/.415 this season but boasts 22 homers and 21 steals. It's his third consecutive 20/20 campaign.

Ian Desmond went 0-for-3 but did draw a walk in his return to action Thursday.

Advice: Desmond missed one game with lower back tightness, but he just sat out as a precaution. The shortstop should be fine moving forward.
