Player Notes
Kris Bryant knocked in three runs and walked to help lead the Cubs to a win over the Pirates on Monday.

Advice: Bryant finished 3-for-4 on the evening. He tied the game at one apiece with a fifth-inning RBI single. In the seventh, he brought in a pair of runs with a double and came around to score on two Pirate errors. Bryant has yet to sate fans' appetite for power with a home run, but has looked comfortable at the plate following his 0-for-4 performance in his major league debut.

Kris Bryant recorded a double in Sunday's contest against the Padres.

Advice: He hit the double off of Padres starter Andrew Cashner in the fifth inning and went on to finish the game 1-for-3 with a strikeout. In addition to the extra-base knock, he also reached base on a HBP. Bryant wrapped up his first major league series 3-for-10 with an RBI and three walks. This is just the start of what should be a great career, though owners should hang in there when Bryant sees inevitable struggles.

Kris Bryant got his first major league hit Saturday against the Padres and reached base five times.

Advice: Bryant finished the day 2-for-3 with three walks. His first hit was a bloop single in the bottom of the fifth inning which brought home a run. He also had an infield single in the 11th. After going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his highly-anticipated major league debut on Friday, this performance was nice to see. Fantasy owners are banking on lots of power from Bryant, but ups and downs are to be expected.

Kris Bryant went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his major league debut Friday.

Advice: James Shields overwhelmed Bryant with changeups to get the youngster to go down swinging in each of his first three at-bats and Dale Thayer got him to ground out in his fourth plate appearance. Obviously it wasn't the best debut, although Bryant did make a couple nice plays in the field. Ultimately, Bryant figures to provide plenty of power for fantasy owners right away, but don't be surprised if he strikes out a bunch and doesn't hit for a great average.

Cubs purchased the contract of 3B Kris Bryant from Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Bryant is starting at third base and hitting in the cleanup spot in his major league debut Friday. The stud prospect was kept in the minors long enough so that the team could secure an extra year of control, with Bryant batting .321/.364/.679 with three homers and 10 RBI in his first seven contests at Iowa. Viewed by many as the top prospect in the game, Bryant has the potential to be a fantasy monster right out of the gate. Jorge Soler is hitting second and Anthony Rizzo third ahead of Bryant. The Cubs are going with Jonathan Herrera at second base and Welington Castillo at catcher Friday.

Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports that top prospect third baseman Kris Bryant will be called up by the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: April 17 was the scheduled day that fans had targeted, knowing that's all it took for the Cubs to gain an extra year of team control for the budding superstar. Bryant put on a show in his final game at Triple-A Iowa, blasting a three-run homer. He's likely to be immediately slotted in as the team's everyday third baseman and his power makes him mixed league relevant from day one.

Cubs prospect Kris Bryant launched his second home run of the season Sunday in Triple-A Iowa's 7-2 win over Memphis.

Advice: Bryant entered the year as the game's best prospect and has done nothing to disprove that over his first four games. Dating back to last season, Bryant has now corked 45 home runs in his last 508 minor league at-bats. Bryant's big league debut is imminent, which means it's time to add him in all fantasy formats. Mike Olt's days at third base could be numbered.
