Player Notes
Andrew McCutchen went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts in Friday's extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: McCutchen was noticeably limping after a rough slide into second base in the ninth inning, but he remained in the ballgame. Still, he missed some time with "lower body soreness" during spring training and admitted last month that his knee was a part of the issue. He's batting just .197 with two home runs and no steals through 22 games this season and it's hard to imagine him being the player we thought he'd be if his injuries linger.

Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-5 with a two-run triple and a single, collecting his 1,000th career hit in the process as the Pirates beat the Cubs on Wednesday.

Advice: McCutchen tripled in two runs with a triple as part of a four-run sixth inning. He beat out an infield single to notch his 1,000th career hit at the age of 28. The four-time All-Star and 2013 NL MVP has had a rough go of things to start the 2015 season, batting .194/.302/.333 with two home runs and 13 RBI, but he has been nursing a knee injury, which likely explains his hitting woes.
