Player Notes
Andrew McCutchen acknowledged Thursday that he's dealing with a "tight Achilles."

Advice: McCutchen made sure to say that his knee isn't the issue, but he admitted that he's been feeling "a little sore" and "hobbling around a little bit." He's not in the starting lineup Thursday, but we expect him back for Friday's series opener against the Cardinals.

Andrew McCutchen is not in Thursday's lineup against the Brewers.

Advice: McCutchen pulled up short running to first base Wednesday, though there's nothing to indicate that it's anything serious. The Pirates have a huge series against the Cardinals this weekend, so no reason to take any chances. Starling Marte will play center field Thursday while Josh Harrison will play left.

Andrew McCutchen hit an RBI double and a three-run home run across five plate appearances in Wednesday's win against the Marlins.

Advice: McCutchen put the Pirates on the board in the first inning with an RBI double to left. He made it a six-run second inning when he sent a Chris Narveson offering over the fence in left field for a three-run homer. The outfielder has four consecutive multi-hit games and seven in his last nine contests. On the season, McCutchen is batting .300/.400/.521 with 20 home runs and 85 RBI.
