Player Notes
Andrew McCutchen is back in the Pirates' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: McCutchen exited Tuesday's contest after aggravating his rib fracture when he slammed into the outfield wall, but his removal was precautionary and he's back out there the next day. The reigning National League MVP has just seven hits in 28 at-bats since returning from the disabled list, but three of them have left the yard.

Andrew McCutchen (rib) expects to be back in the Pirates' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: McCutchen exited Tuesday's contest after aggravating his rib fracture when he slammed into the outfield wall while making a catch. However, he downplayed the ailment after the game. "Just sore," McCutchen said. "Being smart." It's not clear whether the Pirates share the outfielder's optimism regarding his chances of playing Wednesday, but the good news is that it doesn't appear McCutchen suffered a serious setback.

Andrew McCutchen left Tuesday's game against the Cardinals after aggravating his rib injury.

Advice: McCutchen banged into the outfield wall while making a catch in the third inning and looked uncomfortable for the next two frames before exiting. The outfielder was activated from the disabled list just a week ago after missing two weeks with an avulsion fracture of his 11th left rib. The Pirates will provide more on his status after the game.

Andrew McCutchen homered off another closer as part of a 3-for-4 day against the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: For the second straight game, McCutchen hit a solo homer with the Pirates down in the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately, they were down two runs both times and went on to lose both games. Tonight's homer came off Trevor Rosenthal. Sunday's came off Milwaukee's Francisco Rodriguez.

Andrew McCutchen hit his 19th home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: McCutchen took Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez deep in the ninth to draw the Pirates within one run, but they wouldn't get any closer. McCutchen is 4-for-13 with two home runs and four runs scored in his last three games after starting 0-for-8 immediately after coming off the disabled list. With the rust off, the All-Star should continue to produce moving forward.

Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-5 with his first home run since returning from the disabled list in a win over the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Heading into Friday's contest, McCutchen was hitless in eight at-bats since being activated. In the game, McCutchen singled and scored in the third inning before launching a solo home run in the fifth. The outfielder now has 18 home runs with a .306/.404/.532 line on the year.
