Player Notes
Jordan Zimmermann (neck) went four scoreless innings Sunday in his rehab debut with Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Zimmermann scattered four hits over his four shutout frames against the Triple-A affiliate of the Orioles, striking out two and walking none. He only threw 50 pitches, so another minor league rehab start is undoubtedly coming before he returns to the Detroit rotation. The right-hander has been on the disabled list since July 2 because of a right neck strain.

Jordan Zimmermann (neck) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

Advice: Zimmermann has been sidelined since the end of June with a strained neck, so he's likely to need at least two rehab starts before he's deemed ready to rejoin the Tigers rotation. Matt Boyd will continue to hold down that rotation spot for the time being.

Jordan Zimmermann (neck) could begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo as soon as this weekend.

Advice: Zimmermann threw a 40-pitch bullpen session Thursday, which was his second time throwing from the bump since going down with a strained neck. He's expected to need two rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list. "We’ll see how far he goes in the first one," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "I’d say he probably needs two. But we’ll let him tell us how he feels and see how deep he goes in the first one."

Jordan Zimmermann (neck) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session on Monday.

Advice: Zimmermann reported feeling good and will throw again on Thursday in Chicago. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has said that he'll need to make at least two rehab starts before being activated, so a return in the early part of August appears possible. The veteran right-hander has been out since the end of June with a strained neck.
