Player Notes
Jeff Samardzija pitched brilliantly in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing just one run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings.

Advice: The Shark racked up nine strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. The only damage against him came on an inherited runner that rode home on Manny Machado's home run after Samardzija had departed. A popular name in trade rumblings, he'll carry a 4.33 ERA and 97/22 K/BB ratio into Thursday's start against the Blue Jays.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Jeff Samardzija "is on the list" of the Blue Jays.

Advice: Samardzija has already been dealt twice over the last year and the impending free agent is likely to be on the move again with the White Sox out of contention. The right-hander has put up a disappointing 4.56 ERA this season, but his stuff looks to be intact and he would be a welcome upgrade to the Blue Jays' rotation.

Jeff Samardzija was terrific for most of Sunday but lost it late in a loss to the Tigers.

Advice: "Shark" dominated the Tigers for seven shutout innings but came apart in the eighth. Or, rather, he was hung out to dry by White Sox manager Robin Ventura in the eighth. After hitting Ian Kinsler with a bases-loaded pitch, Samardzija looked to empty the tank when he bounced back to strike out Miguel Cabrera. Ventura stuck with the righty, though, and Victor Martinez cleared the bases with a double. It's been a maddeningly inconsistent season for Samardzija, who now has a 4.56 ERA and just one win over his last seven starts. He'll take on the Orioles next weekend.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Astros "remain interested" in Jeff Samardzija.

Advice: Rosenthal first connected Houston to Samardzija back in mid-May, noting that Astros scouts had been monitoring the 30-year-old right-hander's outings. And they still are. Samardzija owns an ugly 4.53 ERA in 101 1/3 innings this season for Chicago, but Rosenthal notes that the White Sox defense is partly to blame. He'd probably fare much better from a fantasy perspective in Houston, at least in the win expectancy department. Rosenthal also connects the Astros to A's left-hander Scott Kazmir.
