Player Notes
White Sox acquired RHP Jeff Samardzija and RHP Michael Ynoa from the Athletics for INF Marcus Semien, RHP Chris Bassitt, 1B Rangel Ravelo, and C Josh Phegley.

Advice: The parameters of this six-player swap were agreed to weeks ago and then finalized at the Winter Meetings in San Diego. Samardzija is obviously a big get for the Pale Hose, who can pair the right-hander up with left-handed ace Chris Sale for one of the best one-two rotation punches in baseball. Samardzija, 29, had an outstanding 2.99 ERA, 1.065 WHIP, and 202/43 K/BB ratio in 219 2/3 innings this past season between the Cubs and Athletics.

According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the White Sox are getting two players from the Athletics in the Jeff Samardzija trade.

Advice: And the A's will get two other players along with infielder Marcus Semien and right-hander Chris Bassitt. The trade has been agreed upon, but no official announcement has been made yet by either club. Samardzija, 29, registered a 2.99 ERA, 1.065 WHIP, and 202/43 K/BB ratio over 219 2/3 innings this past season between the Cubs and Athletics. He joins a White Sox rotation that already includes ace left-hander Chris Sale.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, a Jeff Samardzija deal between the White Sox and A's has been agreed to.

Advice: No word yet on the exact return package, but it's still believed that infielder Marcus Semien and right-hander Chris Bassitt are involved, along with a third prospect. USA Today's Bob Nightengale says the parameters of the trade have been agreed to for weeks, so a full announcement should be coming shortly. Samardzija, 29, posted a 2.99 ERA, 1.065 WHIP, and 202/43 K/BB ratio over 219 2/3 innings this past season between the Cubs and Athletics.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Athletics and White Sox agreed to the parameters of a Jeff Samardzija trade "several days ago."

Advice: The exact parameters aren't yet known, but the A's are expected to receive infielder Marcus Semien and prospects in the deal. An official announcement could come as soon as Tuesday.

John Hickey of Bay Area News Group reports that the Athletics are likely to trade right-hander Jeff Samardzija to the White Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Things are "on hold" at the moment, which means that nothing will be finalized late Monday night. This essentially backs up what was reported by Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. It's believed that the White Sox will send Marcus Semien and prospects to Oakland in the deal.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Jeff Samardzija is "on the verge" of being traded.

Advice: Heyman says the White Sox are the "likely winner" in the Samardzija sweepstakes and FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal has confirmed that the righty is indeed close to heading to Chicago. Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan has reported that the White Sox would send Marcus Semien and prospects to the A's in the deal. Samardzija is projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to earn $9.5 million in his final year of arbitration before hitting free agency next winter.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the White Sox have engaged in "serious talks" with the Athletics about a trade for Jeff Samardzija and could be looming as the frontrunners.

Advice: The two teams have been linked in recent weeks and it appears that talks have been productive. No word on who the A's could acquire in return, but Marcus Semien and prospect Tim Anderson have been floated as possibilities. Samardzija posted a 2.99 and 202/43 K/BB ratio over 219 2/3 innings this past season and is due to become a free agent after 2015.
