Player Notes
Jorge Soler (legs) is not in the Cubs' lineup Sunday.

Advice: He's now sat out two of the last three games. Soler dealt with injuries to both legs this season in the minors, and the Cubs want to be careful with his usage with the big club. Expect the slugger to continue seeing regular days off during the final month. Soler has three homers and seven RBI in his first four major league games. Logan Watkins is in right field Sunday.

Jorge Soler blasted a pair of home runs and drove home three, powering the Cubs to a 7-2 victory over the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: He finished the night 3-for-3 plus a walk. Soler tied the game with a solo shot off opposing starter Shelby Miller in the seventh inning, then tagged Pat Neshek for a two-run blast the following inning. He has started his big league career off with a bang, going 7-for-11 (.636) with three homers and six RBI in his first three games. He needs to be owned and started in all mixed leagues.

Jorge Soler doubled and singled in a run Thursday against the Reds in his second big-league game.

Advice: The double to left was playable, but Skip Schumaker misjudged it and let it go over his head. That said, the ball was absolutely scalded. Soler struck out in his other two at-bats today. He's 4-for-8 after two games.

Jorge Soler homered in his first major league plate appearance and added an RBI single later, finishing 2-for-4 overall, as the Cubs were defeated by the Reds on Wednesday.

Advice: Soler took Mat Latos out to center field for a no-doubt home run, starting off his big league career in fashion. The Cubs have been ushering in the youth movement and Soler is the latest part of that. The 22-year-old should get regular playing time in right field through the end of the season.

Cubs recalled OF Jorge Soler from Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Soler is in right field and batting fifth in his major league debut Wednesday in Cincinnati. The Cuban defector missed time with a hamstring injury this season but has batted .340/.432/.700 with 15 homers and 57 RBI over 62 games when healthy. The 22-year-old figures to be the everyday right fielder down the stretch with the Cubbies and is worth a shot in all fantasy leagues.

David Kaplan of SportsTalk Live in Chicago reports that the Cubs will call up outfield prospect Jorge Soler.

Advice: He'll join the team on Wednesday in Cincinnati. Soler has been on a tear lately at Triple-A Iowa, going 9-for-14 with two homers and seven RBI over his last three games. It's been an injury-shortened season for the Cuban defector, but Soler has crushed the ball when healthy, batting .338/.432/.687 with 14 homers and 54 RBI over 61 games. He's just 22 and hadn't played above A-ball before this season, but the Cubs obviously think Soler has earned a shot. He has enormous raw power and is worth owning in all fantasy leagues, as Soler will be the everyday right fielder down the stretch.

Cubs outfield prospect Jorge Soler went 5-for-5 with a double, a triple, and a walk for Triple-A Iowa on Saturday.

Advice: The 22-year old Soler is hitting .262/.356/.563 with 11 doubles, one triple, and six home runs over 30 games in Triple-A. He missed large chunks of the season due to a hamstring injury, and it is assumed that he will be promoted to the majors when rosters expand in September. He has the talent to hit .275 with 20-plus home runs in the major leagues, and profiles are a prototypical strong-armed right fielder.
