Morton allowed three runs on eight hits in seven innings Wednesday against the Mets, only to be served with his fifth loss of the year.
Recommendation: He walked none, but struck out just one batter. Although Morton gets a lot of ground balls, his inability to miss bats (just 25 strikeouts in 46.1 innings) puts a damper on his effectiveness. Still, this was a solid outing after a four-start stretch in which he gave up 14 earned runs (and another three unearned) in 22.1 innings.
