Player Notes
Matt Garza tossed a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Cubs, allowing three runs on four hits over six innings.

Advice: Garza's name was floated about in various rumors prior to the trade deadline, but the veteran right-hander remains a Brewer for the time being. He struck out five and walked four in Saturday's contest with the Cubs. Anthony Rizzo burned him for a three-run homer in the third inning, but Garza otherwise kept the scoreboard clean. His overall numbers are poor, as he holds a 5.17 ERA and 1.53 WHIP, but he'll toss up a respectably veteran outing from time to time. The Padres are up next on his schedule.

Matt Garza was saddled with the loss in Sunday's contest with the Diamondbacks after allowing three runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Advice: Garza struck out five and walked three on the afternoon. He allowed an RBI triple to Jake Lamb in the fifth inning and a shallow two-run double to a pinch-hitting Chris Owings in the sixth. A possible trade piece at the deadline, Garza holds a slew of ho-hum numbers and is currently pitching to a 5.04 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Assuming he's still with the Brewers when August rolls around, he'll face the Cubs in his next scheduled start.

Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports that the Blue Jays have spoken to the Brewers in recent days, but do not have interest in either Matt Garza or Kyle Lohse.

Advice: The Blue Jays desperately need to find a way to upgrade their pitching staff, so if they don't have interest in the Brewers starters, perhaps its closer Francisco Rodriguez who they have interest in.
