Player Notes
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday that Angel Pagan (back) is "questionable" to play in the upcoming series versus the Dodgers.

Advice: Pagan returned to action Friday but worse, so he's flown to San Diego to have his ailing back examined by team orthopedist Dr. Ken Akizuki. The Giants are fighting for a playoff spot and will obviously do everything they can to get him back in the lineup, but it's possible we won't see much of him in the final week.

Angel Pagan isn't expected to play again this weekend due to back soreness.

Advice: Pagan started Friday, going 0-for-2 with a walk and a steal in his first appearance in five days. His back felt worse afterwards, and he's considered questionable for the Dodgers series that begins Monday. Juan Perez is in center tonight, with Gregor Blanco playing left. Barring a positive report tomorrow, Pagan won't be an option in mixed leagues for the final week of the season.

Angel Pagan went 0-for-2 with a walk and a steal before being removed from Friday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Pagan didn't appear to suffer a setback; the Giants probably just weren't looking for him to play a full nine innings in his return from a sore back. The start tonight was his first in five days.

Angel Pagan has returned to the Giants starting lineup on Friday.

Advice: Pagan had been sidelined since Sunday after experiencing renewed tightness in his back. He should still be considered day-to-day over the final week and a half of the season, as the Giants won't want to push him too hard and risk another re-injury.

The results of Angel Pagan's (back) MRI came back clean on Wednesday and the veteran outfielder expects to return to the Giants starting lineup on Friday.

Advice: Pagan has reported significant improvement after sitting out the entire three-game set against the Diamondbacks. In what has been a season ravaged by injuries, he has managed to excel when on the field, hitting .302/.342/.391 with three homers, 27 RBI and 15 stolen bases in 95 games.

Angel Pagan is set to undergo an MRI on his back.

Advice: The Giants had been hoping Pagan could return to action after Thursday's off day, but thing are up in the air now. It's possible he could receive another cortisone shot before attempting to play through the ailment. Pagan could undergo back surgery over the offseason.

Angel Pagan (back) remained out of the Giants' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: It's the third straight game he's missed due to his nagging back issue. The Giants are off Thursday, so Pagan will shoot for a return for the weekend series in San Diego. Juan Perez is in center field again Wednesday.

Angel Pagan could undergoing surgery on his ailing back over the offseason.

Advice: Giants manager Bruce Bochy was quick to note that surgery is one of many treatment options for Pagan. The outfielder missed nearly two months of action earlier this season with back issues and has had a couple minor setbacks recently. The club hopes that Pagan is ready to play Wednesday after missing the last two games.

Angel Pagan (back) is not in the Giants' lineup Tuesday.

Advice: Manager Bruce Bochy said after Monday's game that he expected Pagan to be ready to go Tuesday, but obviously that's not the case. Consider Pagan day-to-day. Juan Perez is getting another start in center field Tuesday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy placed a "pretty good percentage" that Angel Pagan (back) will be in the starting lineup on Tuesday.

Advice: Pagan was scratched from Monday's lineup with recurring lower back discomfort. His most recent stiffness dates back to Saturday, but the Giants are optimistic it won't keep him sidelined for long.
