Player Notes
Matt Cain threw to hitters Tuesday for the first time since suffering a flexor strain in his right arm.

Advice: Cain tossed 25 pitches to a group of Giants batters and reported no issues after the simulated appearance. He still has a long road ahead, but this is obviously a big step for the rehabbing right-hander. Look for Cain to make his 2015 debut sometime in July.

Matt Cain (elbow) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday, mixing in offspeed pitches with fastballs.

Advice: Giants manager Bruce Bochy came away from the session encouraged. As long as he doesn't experience any unusual soreness on Saturday, he'll proceed to the next stage of his rehab which will be facing live hitters for the first time on Tuesday. While he's finally making tangible progress, he still isn't expected to return to the Giants before July.

Matt Cain's (elbow) next step will be to throw breaking balls on flat ground.

Advice: Cain has already been throwing off a mound, but this will be the first time he's thrown breaking pitches since being diagnosed with a right flexor tendon strain. No timetable has been set for Cain's return, but the veteran right-hander is aiming to be back before the All-Star break.
