Player Notes
Matt Cain was obliterated in Thursday's 17-7 loss to the Rockies, surrendering eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits over four-plus innings.

Advice: We will give you a moment to hide the children before we go over Cain's stats. The veteran right-hander surrendered two home runs and did not strike out a batter. He didn't walk one, either. With almost everything falling in the strike zone, the Rockies teed off. They pounced for three runs in the first inning -- highlighted by a two-run homer from wunderkind Nolan Arenado -- an additional run in the second, and then, the fifth inning happened. Cain would start the inning and promptly surrender the rest of his runs in the frame. Trevor Story walloped a home run to lead off the frame, which was followed by a Carlos Gonzalez double, a Brandon Crawford error and an RBI single by Gerardo Para. Cain would be lifted for Vin Mazzaro at that point. Cain has now allowed at least six runs in three of his six starts. He is scheduled to face the Blue Jays next time out. That should be interesting.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy has not considered shaking up the starting rotation.

Advice: Aging starters Matt Cain (0-3, 7.00 ERA) and Jake Peavy (1-2, 8.61) have both struggled this year but Bochy doesn't see any big changes coming. "I have too much confidence in these two guys," said Bochy. "I don't think there are options that are going to make this staff better." The Giants, who have won every even-year World Series this decade, are off to a disappointing 12-13 start and rank 22nd in the league in starter ERA (4.64).

Matt Cain got knocked around in Saturday’s loss to the Mets, allowing seven hits and six runs over six innings.

Advice: He finished with five strikeouts and one walk. Cain couldn’t solve Michael Conforto (3-for-4 with three RBI) and served up a home run to light-hitting Wilmer Flores in the sixth inning. He tried to back the Mets off the plate after a rocky first inning but ended up hitting two batters and allowing two more runs in the second. Not much has gone right for Cain this season. The 31-year-old is now winless in five starts with a brutal 7.00 ERA. He won’t be a fantasy option next time out against the Rockies.
