Player Notes
Matt Holliday (quad) will undergo an MRI Wednesday night to determine the severity of his injury.

Advice: He was lifted from Wednesday's game against the Reds after aggravating the injury. The Cardinals want to determine the severity as quickly as possible, as it may impact their trade pursuits prior to Friday's trade deadline.

Matt Holliday was removed from Wednesday's game against the Reds due to a strained right quadriceps.

Advice: It's an injury that continues to bother the veteran outfielder and could continue to throughout the remainder of the season. He will be re-evaluated on Thursday, but a trip back to the disabled list is certainly a possibility.

Matt Holliday is not in the Cardinals' lineup Monday.

Advice: It appears to simply be some rest, as the Cards have been careful with Holliday as he returns from a quad injury. Stephen Piscotty is in left field.

Matt Holliday hit a grand slam and finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored as the Cardinals outlasted the White Sox 8-5 on Tuesday.

Advice: With the bases loaded in the fourth inning, Holliday went down to get a Carlos Rodon pitch and jacked it out to left. The homer was just his fourth of the year and his first since coming off the disabled list after the All-Star break. The Cardinals certainly missed his bat while he was away, and the 35-year-old is now batting .302/.413/.434 on the season.
