RHP Dan Haren is to start the D-backs' first inter-league game against Detroit this season after going 4-0 in inter-league play with Oakland in 2007, tying the Tigers' Justin Verlander for the most victories in inter-league play. Haren is 7-2 with a 2.93 ERA in 12 inter-league starts. Opponents have hit.219 against him. "Detroit that lineup top to bottom could be one of the best put together in a long time. It's going to be a challenge," Haren said. |

Haren took a loss in Friday's game against the Cubs, striking out five and walking two while giving up two earned runs in seven innings. Recommendation: Haren was nearly lights out through five innings, and was cruising with two outs in the fifth until he gave up a double to Mark DeRosa, which prompted a two-run rally for the Cubs that the Diamondbacks would not be able to overcome. Haren kept the game close in the sixth and seventh innings, but Ted Lilly for the Cubs was not about to give the D'Backs any breaks. Tough loss for Haren to take, but a good performance through and through. |
