RHP Dan Haren had an eventful June on both sides of the plate. Not only was Haren 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA and six quality starts in June, he also was 6-for-13 (.462) at the plate with two doubles and his first major league home run, hit Tuesday at Cincinnati. Haren has become a proficient hitter in his second stay in the National League -- he is hitting .286 with four doubles and four RBIs in 35 at-bats this season. He is hitting .234 in his two seasons back in the NL after spending the previous three in Oakland. |

Haren held the Reds to one run over seven innings and hit a solo homer in Tuesday's win. Recommendation: For once the Diamondbacks' bullpen held a lead after he left, though they made it scary in the eighth inning by allowing one run and loading the bases before getting out of it. |

Haren gave up a run and four hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings and also hit a solo homer off Bronson Arroyo in Tuesday's 6-2 victory over the Reds. Advice: Haren has been one of the few dependables for the injury-decimated Diamondbacks, mired in last place in the NL West. He had the Reds guessing wrong most of the time, retiring the first 11 in order - four of them on called third strikes that dusted the corners. Haren, who has an NL-best 2.19 ERA, went 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA in six June starts. |
