Player Notes
Miguel Cabrera homered in his second straight game Saturday as the Tigers edged the Cardinals 4-3.

Advice: It was a two-run shot that accounted for all of the Tigers' damage against Lance Lynn. Cabrera is 5-for-13 since debuting Sunday. Each of his last three starts have come at first base.

Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBI to lead the Tigers past the Orioles 6-4 on Thursday.

Advice: With Cabrera and Victor Martinez back, the Tigers essentially went with their starting lineup today. The only likely exception was that Rajai Davis was leading off against a right-hander. He'll probably have that spot versus lefties, but Anthony Gose should be there against righties during the regular season. Cabrera is 4-for-10 with four strikeouts since returning to Detroit's lineup Sunday. He's played first base the last two days.

Miguel Cabrera (foot) will start at first base Wednesday.

Advice: Surprising but encouraging news for Cabrera, who just played in his second Grapefruit League game on Tuesday. The plan calls for him to play about four innings in the field. It's no sure thing yet, but Miggy appears to be on track for Opening Day.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday that Miguel Cabrera had a "better than 50/50" to be in the lineup on Opening Day.

Advice: Cabrera served as the Tigers designated hitter in his Grapefruit League debut on Sunday and came through without any difficulty. Barring any setbacks, he and Victor Martinez should each be in their rightful places in the Tigers lineup when the season opens on April 6.

Miguel Cabrera (foot) admitted feeling great after hitting and running on Saturday and wants to make his Grapefruit League debut on Sunday.

Advice: Cabrera is even petitioning manager Brad Ausmus to let him start at first base instead of designated hitter so that his ankle doesn't tighten up on him. It's certainly encouraging news and looks to be a major step in the right direction of Cabrera being in the Tigers lineup on Opening Day.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Saturday that Miguel Cabrera (foot) and Victor Martinez (knee) could both make their Grapefruit League debut on Sunday.

Advice: Ausmus said that it would depend on how they fared running the bases on Saturday. Each of them have remained hopeful that they would be ready for Opening Day, and barring any setbacks both appear on track to do so.
