Player Notes
Shelby Miller allowed only an Aramis Ramirez solo home run over seven innings of work in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Miller took the loss in each of his first two outings, carrying a 6.35 ERA and 7/6 K/BB ratio into Tuesday's start. In Milwaukee, though, the young right-hander found the success he enjoyed for much of last year, striking out seven while allowing just three hits and three walks. It was a promising return to form for the 23-year-old, and he'll try to maintain that form Sunday at the Nationals.

Shelby Miller surrendered three earned runs in six innings Wednesday as the Cardinals fell to the Reds.

Advice: Miller entered the outing with a 1.61 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 101/25 K/BB in 100 2/3 career innings at Busch Stadium and he looked pretty sharp early on. But Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco launched a two-run homer to left field in the top of the fourth inning and then Billy Hamilton put on a baserunning clinic before scoring on a Jay Bruce sac fly in the top of the fifth. Miller will try again for his first win next week against the Brewers.
