Carrasco was designated for assignment by the Mets following Wednesday's loss to the Reds, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Recommendation: Carrasco's final days with the Mets were eventful, including getting tossed Tuesday for hitting the Brewers' Ryan Braun and giving up a two-run homer to the Reds' Todd Frazier on Wednesday. The team will call-up Robert Carson from Double-A Binghampton to take Carrasco's roster spot. Expect him to be a free agent soon enough.

RHP D.J. Carrasco was designated for assignment after Wednesday night's loss, when he allowed a two-run homer to Todd Frazier in the eighth.
It was the second home run Carrasco allowed in as many games, following his infamous incident against the Brewers on Tuesday night. Carrasco said he didn't think that incident, when he hit Brewers star Ryan Braun after allowing a home run to the previous batter, factored into the Mets' decision, and pointed to his poor performance instead. The reliever had a 7.36 ERA. He insisted Tuesday night and before Wednesday's game that the pitch to Braun was not intentional, and manager Terry Collins said he believed his reliever.
