1B/3B Chad Tracy's contract option was declined by the Diamondbacks. Tracy was paid a $1 million buyout rather than the $7 million he would have made in 2010. Tracy, 29, was a potent middle-of-the-order bat in 2005-06, when he combined for 75 doubles, 47 home runs, 152 RBIs and a .297 batting average, but injuries to both knees limited his playing time in 2007 and 2008. This year, he batted .237 with eight homers and 39 RBIs in 98 games. |

The Diamondbacks declined to exercise their 2010 club option on Tracy, the East Valley Tribune reports. Recommendation: Tracy hit just .237 last season; but he is still just 29 and can play multiple defensive positions. He should draw some interest in this winter's free agent market. |

Tracy's $7 million option has been declined by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who will pay the infielder a $1 million buyout. The 29-year-old becomes eligible for free agency. Advice: Selected on the seventh round of 2001 amateur draft, Tracy batted .237 in 71 games this year, when he spent all of June on the disabled list. He hit .280 over parts of six seasons with the club. |
