Guthrie pitched well on Wednesday night in a weather suspended game by giving up two runs on six hits in 5.2 innings of work. He struck out four and walked one. Recommendation: Guthrie pitched well, but was losing 2-1 when the weather took a turn for the worse and the game was suspended. The game will be completed on Thursday and Guthrie will not pitch. His statistics should be updated on Thursday night after the completion of the impromptu double-header. |

RHP Jeremy Guthrie finally got some run support Friday. And with some help from the Orioles offense, the staff ace earned his sixth win. The Orioles were scoring 3.95 runs per game in Guthrie's starts, and just 1.43 in games Guthrie lost. Friday, the Orioles scored seven for him -- just the third time they'd done so in a Guthrie start this year -- and the right-hander needed just 96 pitches to piece together six solid innings.
Guthrie allowed 12 hits and four runs, and walked two against five strikeouts. But Detroit stranded nine runners -- five in scoring position with two outs -- and the Orioles turned three double plays. |
