CF Vernon Wells (fractured left wrist) was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Wells will be lost to the Jays for six-to-eight weeks.
The loss of Wells is particularly lethal as he has been one of the few players in the lineup to have been producing at the plate. Wells was riding an eight-game hitting streak, where he has gone 12-for-29 for a .414 average.
After their opening 38 games, he is the team leader in hits (39), total bases (61), runs scored (21), home runs (5) and RBIs (24). |

Wells will miss 6-8 weeks after breaking a bone in his left wrist on Friday, the Toronto Star reports. Recommendation: Alex Rios will likely slide over to center field, while the newly-acquired Kevin Mench and Brad Wilkerson should see more playing time in right.
