CF Vernon Wells underwent successful surgery to repair cartilage damage on his left wrist last week. The Jays said that Wells is expected to be fully recovered and ready for spring training. In 2009 Wells had a miserable season. In 158 games, 684 at-bats, he hit just .260 with 15 home runs and 68 RBIs, totals that no doubt were affected by the wrist injury that plagued him the entire season. Wells' problem with his wrist was not revealed until a couple of weeks ago. |

Wells underwent surgery Friday to repair damaged cartilage in his left wrist, the Associated Press reports. Recommendation: Wells initially damaged the cartilage during the 2008 season, and suffered through a poor 2009 campaign in part because of lingering wrist pain. He's expected to be healthy by the time spring training begins. |
