Player Notes
Randy Wolf pitched well in Thursday's loss to the Angels, allowing one run on five hits over seven innings.

Advice: Wolf's second start with the Tigers was a throwback effort to the days of his youth. The 39-year-old southpaw struck out five, walked two and surrendered his lone run on a shallow RBI single by Albert Pujols in the sixth. Alas, this singular run would be enough to saddle him with the loss, as the Tigers fell by a score of 2-0. Through two starts, Wolf has allowed five runs in 14 innings. It's somewhat difficult to believe that he'll continue to pitch to a sub-3.00 ERA, but he'll try to continue this late resurgence when he hits the dusty trail to face the Royals in his next start.

Randy Wolf took the loss in Saturday's contest with the Rangers, surrendering four runs (three earned) on nine hits over seven innings.

Advice: Wolf turned 39 on Saturday, but pitched like a younger man in a (mostly) effective start in which he struck out five without walking a batter. The Rangers put up a four-spot against him in the third inning, but that was the only frame in which they scored. The veteran right-hander held a 2.53 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 106/40 K/BB ratio across 139 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo prior to being shipped over to the Tigers. We wouldn't recommend him for fantasy purposes except in select match-ups, as his last standout season came in 2011. He'll look to continue his run against Father Time when he faces the Angels at home in his next start.

Tigers purchased the contract of LHP Randy Wolf from Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Wolf was acquired from the Blue Jays on Thursday to provide depth to an injury-ravaged rotation. He'll be making his first start with the Tigers on Saturday as he celebrates his 39th birthday. The southpaw compiled a 2.53 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 106/40 K/BB ratio over 139 2/3 innings at Triple-A Buffalo.

Tigers acquired LHP Randy Wolf from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.

Advice: The Tigers were in need of a starter with Anibal Sanchez and Daniel Norris both sidelined, so Wolf is back in the majors and will pitch Saturday against the Rangers. The veteran southpaw has compiles a 2.53 ERA and 106/40 K/BB ratio in 139 2/3 innings over 23 starts this season at the Triple-A level. He turns 39 on Saturday.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Randy Wolf recently requested his release from the Blue Jays.

Advice: However, Heyman says the club is considering promoting him in September, so they may hang on to him. A decision is coming in the next couple days. Wolf, who will turn 39 later this week, boasts a 2.58 ERA at Triple-A Buffalo this season.
